Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad Anjum ( Vice Chancellor)

Knowledge has been the pivot of success since the inception of human society irrespective of race, religion and the regional affiliations. It has been the foundation upon which the edifices of great successful nations are built. Especially, in recent days of remarkable scientific climax,

the significance of quality educations matters a lot without which, advancement is an unachieved dream. It is heartening the University of the Gambia is flourishing as a highest seat of learning and disseminating quality education in various advanced academic pursuits but it’s not the end. The University is taking quite effective initiatives to justify the very cause of its creation; to mete out the myriad challenges the education sector is confronted with. Its high profile faculty taken from round the globe is vigorously pursuing the task to inspire graduates with the high spirit of working hard so as to prepare a brilliant corps of young entrepreneurs. This corps, in turn, would contribute significantly in the technological advancement and uplift The Gambia as a nation. I feel no hesitation in saying that with the ongoing spirit and enthusiasm, we will be able to transform the University of The Gambia as an internationally accredited institute of highest learning.

I am committed to establishing in The University of The Gambia Centers of Excellence in various departments so as to promote an ample liaison with the globally accredited academic, research and financial institutions which would in turn, will promote a research culture and usher into an era of enormous scientific, technological, social as well as financially uplift the people of The Islamic Republic of The Gambia. At the same time, it would mitigate the shortcomings of our food industry which is confronted with challenges owing to incredible growth in population. It would also steer a significant increase in per capita income thereby raising the living standards of the people.

Simultaneously, I would advise the students to stay away from unnecessary activities by any means that will erect obstacles in your way to brilliant future which is awaiting you. So, work, work hard.
