UTG's transformation process is designed to achieve two broad objectives. In addition to creating opportunities for the university's sustainable growth, it is expected that it will become and remain more effective and efficient in its areas of operations. Both these require new sets of skills, capabilities, competencies, capacities and most importantly, resources. As The Gambia's premier institute of higher learning, UTG depends on its human resource capital for the effective design, delivery and upgrading of its programmes and professional services as well as other administrative and support functions. UTG has not only an ageing faculty but also needs to further upgrade the qualifications and competencies of the young. Therefore, the need for succession planning is critical in identifying, developing and tracking the university's future leaders and executive team.
