TIME: 10:30-12:00

The current School of Education at UTG started in 2001, first as Faculty of Education with only one full time lecturer, then as a Department of Education and now as School of Education with 6 full time lecturers. It started with one program (Bachelor of Education in School Management), relying mainly on the services
of part time lecturers. That program was later changed to a Certificate in School Management program. Then in 2007, a subject - based undergraduate program was introduced with more than 10 teaching subject majors and minors (Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Islamic Studies, Agriculture, Accounting, Economics, English language, French language) offered in collaboration with various departments of the university. This program enables students to acquire relevant content and pedagogical knowledge in various subjects to qualify them to teach the Senior Secondary School curriculum. The School is currently reviewing its curriculum with the goal to improve the quality of course content, and delivery to subsequently improve quality of learning. This will include review of course content, expansion of the course offering to include electives, more practical based courses, and introduction of an Honors program among others. In the same vein the School is looking to an expansion of its faculty to include individuals with diverse expertise.
